OPEN ROAD STUDIOS
The accelerated growth of Open Road Studios, an e-business solutions provider, required new offices that reflected the image and needs of a fast-paced, creative technology environment in a less formal setting than more traditional corporate firms.

The architectural concepts were simple and direct, allowing construction to be completed in only twelve weeks. The client leased space on two contiguous floors in a 1960's four-story office building but needed an office that could be presented as a inclusive, interconnected space. Specific programming needs included creative brainstorming areas, formal client conference rooms and studio workstation areas. The design objective was to connect, not split.

Open Road Studios' desire for an expressive space was fulfilled through bold architectural expression and use of materials. The center of the second floor was removed to create a two-story atrium, and a double-height glazed conference "block" was inserted to visually and functionally connect the floors. The more formal meeting room was placed on the ground floor and left visible from the entrance while the creative discussion room was stacked above.
