SONY MUSIC HEADQUARTERS
As one of Ehrlich Architects' first large scale commercial projects, the design of the Sony Music West Coast Headquarters is a 1990's interpretation of the streamlined modern architecture popular in Santa Monica in the 1930's.
The 100,000 square foot complex serves as the West Coast headquarters for music conglomerate and, set atop a subterranean parking, is broken into three distinct buildings. The development provides a separate identity for each of the company's two main record labels - Epic and Columbia - as well as for the corporate support services of Sony Music. Each pavilion has a unique geometric form but maintains architectural cohesiveness with consistent sandstone cladding, horizontal bands of windows and medal awnings. All of the structures open onto an interior courtyard enlivened with lush plantings and ornamental water features.
